Early Years Foundation Stage: A Guide for Parents and Carers
Our Early Years classes for children who are in their Nursery or Reception years are based at the Blaydon site. We follow the Development Matters Framework with most learning taking place through play and child initiated activities, supplemented by small group activities. Our main focus is on the three prime areas of Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development which in turn support the four specific areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design) giving coverage of all 7 areas of learning.
Our Early Years classrooms are fun and motivating places to be with all children engaging in activities that promote independence, curiosity, persistence and challenge. We make full use of our fabulous outdoor learning garden which all children access and which supports the 7 areas of learning.
As well as the four classrooms at the Blaydon site the Early Years children have their own soft play and sensory rooms and Rebound Therapy trampoline. We are an important part of the local community making use of the Library, shopping centre and local walks
Parents and Carers can learn more about the opportunities and experiences we offer within the Early Years as well as how they can help to support their child’s learning by downloading The Early Years Foundation Stage: A Guide for Parents and Carers.
